In the processes of these artists there is a clear interest and idea that our contemporary lifestyle is no longer about digesting information through our sensors alone, but with the guidelines of technological advances at our hands as well.

I feel the need to share:

1. Be closer to girlfriends. These are the ladies I love and respect and surrounding myself with more of their energy will benefit US ALL.

2. Stop thinking or getting too hung up on boys or sex. The only person who really matters is —- and the way things are are only depressing myself. So I should just learn to detach from this and focus on point 1.

3. Keep my environment (apartment, bags, work space) clean and simple. Purchase less things because they are really just substitutes for my own feelings of worth. Feel proud of the space I live in for how clean it is and how much it relaxes me.

4. Remain focused on my 10 year plan. Remember that preparation is key in every step and don’t get too distracted on side projects. Remind self that success doesn’t occur over night and don’t compare self to others, just move forward in a sturdy and semi-independent bubble.

o.0 So far this year

I decided my year would start from Chinese New Year (February 10th.)

Part of this was because I really think Feb 8th was one of the most intense and horrible days of my life I would never want to relive. (Dramatic, I know)

(although another notable shitty February day was Feb 14, 2007 when I found out my brother was going to Iraq for the first time. [did not know it would only be the first time] )

Anyway, so far this year, 2 things have become continuous themes and I’d like to take note of them now.

One is that NOTHING IS COINCIDENCE I learned this on the eve of my new year. In fact was amazes me is the absolute lack of coincidence due to what I prefer to believe is fate. (I read 1Q84 which is at least partially to blame.)

The second is the value of self-awareness which I think has always important but seems to have been a buzzword in all my conversations and interests lately though not some publicly, facebook posted thing. (FB may be the opposite of self-awareness as it is very very social/other awareness). So rathe I notice awareness of self awareness. o.0

I would very, very VERY strongly advise everyone to see this show.
After leaving Miami and actually the case for many art fairs, is that there is a repulsive stick I get from visitors who view the artwork on display, ask about technique and share how they will try to replicate it at home as a DIY project.

Asides from my feeling that sharing something like that is very rude and shows no respect for the artists original ideas and purpose. It’s also very naive since it dismisses the artist’s personal ability to actually achieve these results with that particular technique - what you see is the product of YEARS of continuous effort in honing a particular technique and is the result of maturation over time, not some arbitrary arts and crafts project….

Anyhow, Chris McCaw’s show is bad ass. His compositions are fresh and super strong. They seem misleadingly simple which is why I was reminded of the DIY-ers, but this is exactly what I mean when I refer to an artist’s personal mastery showing through.

YUUUUUUMMMMMAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYY

Me, now.

Me, now.

lol, I’d be thrilled too.

On the other hand, I got this from ArtInfo. I like how on the one hand they promise no more than 2 PSY references this year and yet….this wtfness:
(please note the caption)

On a side note I think every Asian man I know will be dressed as PSY this year…
